TNT Announces 6th Animal Kingdom Season

by Ron Rego

January 21, 2021

TNT crime drama Animal Kingdom now knows their fate. Don't worry fans, it is coming back for the fifth season that was delayed from this past Summer due to Coronavirus. TNT did however renew for a sixth season. Unfortunately for fans, that will be the final season.

If you have yet to watch the show, I suggest you do as it is in my top five shows to watch that is currently airing new shows. It may in fact be in my top 10 of all-time. So make sure you binge watch before season 5 starts to air.

Season 5 returns this summer after missing last year and word is season six begins production in February. Claws also has an ending announced, so that leaves Snowpiercer the only remaining scripted series for TNT. Animal Kingdom has been a solid performer for the network from day 1. It is currently in the top 10 cable dramas which has the likes of shows like The Walking Dead among other top shows. Be sure to catch up and let us know what you think of the show.

Willow Coming to TV

by Ron Rego

It was 1988 when the Lucas film Willow was released. It has now been confirmed by Disney to be developing a series that will air on Disney+. The film was directed by Ron Howard and was not a huge box office hit, but did receive a lot of overseas acclaim. The movie did however have a cult following and fans were begging for a sequel. The series will be produced by Howard and is the first non Star Wars  project in five years for Lucasfilms. Jon Chu will direct the pilot episode with Warwick Davis returning in the featured role.

The talent behind the project has been quite successful, but Howard certainly didn't get that success working with Lucasfilms on the Solo movie for the Star Wars franchise. It is not yet known if Val Kilmer will be returning as Madmartigan, but I would think that role would most likely be recast if that character is even planned.

Willow has no date to start production and therefor has now date on when it will finally air. My guess is late 2022 or early 2023.

Reedus and AMC Strike Deal

by Ron Rego

September 16, 2020

Fresh on the heels of the announcement that The Walking Dead will end after season 11, tons of news coming out of AMC. In case you missed it, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride  have been slated to carry on their characters Darryl and Carol to a spinoff. That was last week. Now AMC has announced that Reedus has now signed a first look development deal with AMC Studios for two years. Bigbaldhead productions is the Reedus production company he started. That will work on an adaptation of Undone By Blood from Aftershock Comics. It will likely star Reedus in this new spin on Westerns. Reedus will also serve as an Executive producer along with writers Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler. Aftershock's Jon and Lee Kramer will also serve as EPs.

Reedus' production banner also signed a deal with Blackstone Publishings that will start with Boondock Saints actor's Unknown Man series. He may be the busiest man in show business. Season 5 of his series Ride should be returning next year along with Season 10 finale episodes of TWD and the series ending season 11 that will end in 2022 will be followed by the new spin off in 2023. I myself can't wait for Undone By Blood as it will surely be something different for television.

Big Shake Up on Mom

by Ron Rego

September, 4, 2020

This year has been a whirlwind at TV networks and CBS is not immune. After shaking up there programming due to Covid-19, now there is a big shake up on one of the top comedies on TV. Mom, starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney had each signed two year contracts in the Spring of 2019 making it a sure thing that Mom had two seasons remaining. We ll, that may be true as they are trying to film the second season of that contract being season 8 of Mom. They will however be doing that without Faris. She will not be returning and the show will explain her absense in the upcoming season. Production is set to begin on September 14th.

It is not known why the change came, we can only think of Faris pursuing other career opportunities. Most likely the movies. Whatever the reason, it is hard to imagine the show withour that mother daughter confrontation and duel chaos. Chuck Lore productions will have to create new situations for the cast and come up with a good reason for her absense. I'm figuring maybe becoming a lawyer, school, or death. It also could be a Covid-19 related absense for the character as we know that will seep into a few shows.
